ARTO’S GOT SHOES
Gravis Footwear has released a new Arto Saari skate shoe this spring which is looking pretty fly if we must say so. You might have heard or seen the shoes already, but if you don’t have a pair on your feet, then WTF are you waiting for?
If you were in NYC last night then you made it to the World Premier of Taylor Steel’s new flick “Castles In The Sky” right? If not, you need to take a long look in the mirror and check your priorities! ”Castles In The Sky” or CIS is the second installment of surf lifestyle movies, the first being “Sipping Jetstreams”, that Taylor has put out to get viewers to look at surfing from outside of the fishbowl we live in. I have yet to see it since I don’t live in NYC, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be let down.
Now if you did make it to the show last night, you might have picked up one of 50 custom CIS | Mizu bottles that were made just for the premier. LUCKY!
Sorry, not the best pic…
NIKE 6.0 LOWERS PRO
If you are in the southern California area, you should be thinking about getting yourself down to Trestles to get a firsthand look at the six star Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro. Being a six star event, plenty of big name surfers will be on hand to battle for points, money and ripable lowers peaks minus the crowd.
Mizu has created a grip of custom bottles for the event to keep the beaches clean and the surfers optimally hydrated. If you drop by the site, you might just be able to get one for yourself. If you are not in the area, watch the live webcast here!
MONSTER CHILDREN COMES STATESIDE!
For those of you who already know about the Australian magazine Monster Children, I don’t have to tell you that it is one of the best magazines ever to be laid down on paper. For those of you who don’t know, click here to check out their website or just get the hell out there and find yourself a copy. Or you could just throw all caution to the wind and subscribe immediately.
BRAZIL GOES WILD
Brazil goes wild today as Brazilian Jadson Andre tops Kelly Slater to win the 2010 Billabong Santa Catarina Pro. Jadson is the first Brazilian to win this event since Peterson Rosa in 1998. There was an emergence of new talent that made their presence know with the likes of Dane Reynolds, Owen Wright, Jordy Smith, and of course Jadson Andre that all made it through to the quarters and semi finals. But the question still remains, can some of the new talent hold their weight in waves like J-Bay and Teaupoo? We know Dane can, as well as Jordy, but look for the veterans to shine over the next couple of event.
Congratulations to Jadson for the win and Kelly for taking the tour lead with his second place finish. The race is ON!
FROM LLAMAS TO SHEEP
Surfing really is a sport for everyone, or everything, these days. The other week I was forwarded something about a surfing Llama, but it didn’t really surf too much. It more stood up and jumped off. But the Sheep! You gotta see the sheep!
HERE’S TO THE THRUSTER
Today, April 18, we honor the birth of the thruster. This day in 1981, Simon Anderson introduced the world to the three fin surfboard by winning the Bells contest on this experimental model in massive surf. Simon backed up his theory shortly after the contest by winning again in much smaller surf. So today, we thank you Simon Anderson. Send him a dollar everyone.
Check the story on Surfline here.
FOR THE BIRDS.
Our good friend, photographer Embry Rucker, lives in Southern California, but was raised out in Kentucky. Anyone who keeps tabs on Embry through the observation channels of the internet, knows that you can take the boy out of Kentucky, but you can’t take Kentucky out of the boy. We got these photos in our inbox the other day from Embry while he was back home visiting the family and letting the kids run wild. That’s a beautiful looking Mizu bottle!
ANOTHER JUSSI TEASE
Here is your second teaser for the upcoming “Three Days With Jussi” by VHS.
THREE DAYS WITH JUSSI COMING…
Jussi has been out with our friends over at VHS (Video Hyper Shred) and is racking up some nice shots. From the words of Pierre Wikberg, “Jussi Oksanen came by to visit us this week. So we were out filming all day yesterday.
Unfortunately Eddie hurt his knee yesterday so he’ll be taking a few days off.” Here is a teaser for the upcoming “Three Days With Jussi”
